Leaving for ATX this afternoon. I have not packed yet. This means I had to wake up at 7am to do so. Live and learn, people.

Also, Fozzy is sulking in the background. He does not like it when I travel.

YESSSS-the JetBlue App is FINALLY Here

It’s about time JetBlue got their crap together. I swear this isn’t an ad…I cannot express how excited I am for the JetBlue app. I’m all about paperless tickets, checking in with my smartphone, and checking flight statuses with my app. And I fly JetBlue whenever I can (heading to Austin this month on JB), so this is reason for me to celebrate.

My Thoughts on…the Westin Tampa Bay

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Joe and I decided to meet up in Tampa for the Cowboys/Bucs game at Raymond James Stadium. This was especially fun because he’s a Bucs fan and I’m a Cowboys fan. Plus, I knew it would be a blast to hang out with an NYC buddy.

Tampa. Football. You know, the usual shenanigans.

It’s been almost two weeks since I drove up to Tampa to meet up with my NYC buddy Joe to go to the Cowboys/Bucs game. Nevermind that we managed to get $50 nosebleed seats to a sold out game. We were just happy to be there and drink beer and watch football.

Needless to say fun times were had (and the Cowboys kept their playoff hopes alive that night)!

This is me, circa September 2007 in Teotihuacan (outside Mexico City).

Now, nearly 4 years later, I’ll be heading back. Even if this is a work trip and I will have little to no sightseeing, I’m pretty stoked.

Taste of New England

Earlier this week I traveled to the Greater Boston area for a meeting and was lucky enough to visit with my former NYC roomie (who now lives in the area). Even though I only got to spend a few short hours with T, we definitely got some quality time in together.

See that top left photo? That’s me trying to catch a spider. T is DEATHLY afraid of any sort of insect. And believe me, they aren’t exactly my cup of tea either, but it was a relatively small spider, so I trapped it in a glass and set it free outside (but not without a little spider hesitation). T also took me to a place in Hingham called Beer Works that was AWESOME. It was a beautiful day outside, so we sipped on some yummy beverages (I opted for the blueberry summer ale, her a blueberry mojito) while sitting by the bay. It was a perfect way to spend an afternoon before flying back to Florida. Love you, T!

I’m baaaack!

After a week abroad for a business trip, it is good to be back on U.S. soil. I love to travel, but there’s no place like home. After I recover from the 3am wakeup call and catching up on work (and all my social media outlets), I’ll be back to blogging in no time.

Found out I am going to the above place for work in a couple weeks. While it will mean long days of work, at least I’ll be working long days in paradise.

Work & Play in Sin City

Last week, in addition to spending a weekend in Los Angeles, I also headed out to Las Vegas for work to attend the 2011 NAB Show (which was attended by 90,000+ broadcasters/producers/technicians). If you work in the television, radio, broadcasting/production world, this trade show is definitely for you. EVERY major exhibitor from Sony to Panasonic to smaller businesses are represented with awesome demos and cool gadgets.

Being that I’m a freelancer, I did pay my own way to Las Vegas, including flight + hotel. Lucky for me, I found some INCREDIBLE deals on Bing travel (my FAVORITE site for booking airfare) and Booking.com (sister site to Priceline). Would you believe that I got two nights at the Palms for only $100 + taxes???? A steal if you ask me.

The inexpensive flight and hotel accommodations allowed me to spend money on other important things like meals and entertainment. Although it was quite the short trip, we ate dinner with a few colleagues at the Cosmopolitan hotel. We wanted to get a table at STK, but silly us for not thinking of making reservations. So we ended up at Holstein’s, which makes some of the BEST burgers you’ll ever eat (at a much more affordable price than STK would ever be). As someone from Texas, I take my burgers seriously and this place did not disappoint.

The next day, my co-worker and I headed to the Mirage to have breakfast at B.B. Kings. They have one of these in NYC, but in the 10 years I lived there, I can’t say I ever went there (probably due to the fact it was in the middle of Times Square). I have to say though, I was pleasantly surprised at the delicious options they had including pancakes, omelets, and more.

Overall, I had an awesome stay in Vegas. It was a short 2 day trip, although truth be told, not sure I would’ve wanted to be there much longer. I can’t believe how much The Strip has changed in the 3 years since the last time I visited. If you haven’t been to Vegas ever, or in a long time, definitely organize a weekend trip with friends. You’ll have a blast.

The Colony, Joan’s on Third, and other LA Things I did

As you probably read (or maybe not), I was in Los Angeles last weekend for a nice weekend with friends. The trip was somewhat booked on a whim, mostly due to the fact that I was gonna be in Vegas the following week for work. I decided to take full advantage of the weekend and proximity to Vegas by booking a trip to LA for the weekend. After fearing for my life in a Primetime Shuttle van that sped from LAX to the Hollywood Hills (all of my friends were working, and I couldn’t beat the $23 price), I was ready for what the weekend.

That night, my friend Giselle had already promised to make an appearance at a friend’s birthday party at Crown Bar. It’s a cool looking place, but honestly, it was so loud in there, it was hard to have any sort of conversation. This would be ok if there was room to dance, but hence, not really much of a dancing venue (also, to say I dance poorly is an understatement). Then we hopped over to Dillon’s on Hollywood Blvd for a short bit before ending up at The Colony (an SBE spot, i.e. some place The Hills would probably film if it was still in production). To my surprise, I actually really liked this venue minus the velvet rope and long lines…luckily my friends knew the people running the door, so we skipped that nightmare. I probably would’ve liked this place a lot less had I been drinking, as I’m sure drinks are quite pricey here. But it’s a place to be seen. So if you’re looking for that whole LA experience, it’s worth the trip….
