I got the BEST CARE PACKAGE EVER from @bonbonsbyserena! I sometimes have to remind myself how I have somehow managed to surround myself with awesome and thoughtful people. As you know, I went to Austin about a week and a half ago to visit my friend Serena. She has always been an amazing hostess to her company, and my visit was no exception. She introduced me to one of her friends who writes for a craft beer journal for a living (hello, dream job!). So not only was her friend J nice enough to bring over some amazing beers that aren’t available in Florida, but she sent them my way (via Serena). And while I was at Serena’s I was raving to her about the Dr. Bronner Magic Soap (available at Whole Foods, but not at Fresh Market, FYI). So I squealed when she threw one in the care package for moi! And as if that weren’t enough, she sent me her Austin-famous* Bon Bons by Serena. I really do have the most amazing friends in the world.  *soon to be world famous! Zoom

My friend ate 2,011 wings in 2011…nominate him for the Hall of Flame

I don’t even remember how many times I’ve mentioned this to my friends here in Florida through out the year. And every time I’d get the same wide-eyed, stunned reaction: “Your friend is doing WHAT?”

That’s right. A guy I (indirectly) used to work with at VH1 decided that his new year’s resolution for 2011 would be to eat 2,011 wings before the year’s end. Sounds crazy, right? Hell, I even had my doubts. But you know what, HE DID IT. Not only did he achieve his goal…he did it ahead of schedule. And now, his goal for 2012…to get inducted into the Hall of Flame. And you can help him get there.

You can read all about his wing-tastic year on his website, Facebook, or Twitter feed. You’ll read about the kinds of wings he ate in different locales. And how he even landed a sponsorship deal. And the icing on the cake…he LOST WEIGHT (with minimal workouts…lucky bastard). I guarantee you’ll be come fan. Skydiving with the Golden Knights!

I finally crossed another item off my bucket list— SKYDIVING!

I got asked if I wanted to go skydiving with the Golden Knights, to of course I replied “Hells yeah!”. I mean, if I’m gonna jump out of a plane, why not do it with the FREAKING ARMY? So here are the other girls I went with:

The two girls on the left had jumped once before, and the girl next to me (on the right) and myself had never jumped. I really was extremely excited about the whole thing. Even when we got in the plane, I just had this smile on my face. I figured the moment I creeped to the edge of the plane (with my tandem partner) is when fear would strike. But honestly? It was so GREAT. I don’t remember being scared at all. I DO, however, remember finding it incredibly hard to breathe for the first minute or two though. Imagine riding on a motorcycle, but at like 200 miles/hour. But honestly, I just kept my mind off of it by smiling for the camera (as seen below).

It was so great. My partner Joe was AWESOME. In fact, side note, he actually was Vince Vaughn’s tandem partner. Don’t believe me? You can see the video here. 

All in all, I wanted to do it all over again as soon as I landed. Had SUCH A GREAT TIME. And the Golden Knights were so great at keeping everyone calm, making us laugh, and being professional all at once. I highly recommend them for any skydiving experience. Here I am, post-jump, with “the Joes” (one was strapped to my back, the other was my camera guy). Much love to these guys.

yesterday was honestly a perfect day. i wouldn’t want it to have gone any differently. i started off the day by going to pro bowl practice (!) and took a few photos. one of my photos ended up on one of the team’s websites. i’ve been doing work for the pro bowl and super bowl, which is awesome. i also picked up my car from the body shop (to fix the damages from the fender bender i was in last month) and when i paid, the guy there gave me FLOWERS. no strings. just because he was nice. AND to top it all off, i got a last minute invite to the pro bowl welcome reception. a party with nfl football players! and i was invited!  granted, i didn’t recognize many of the players that were there, but i did recognize this guy. i was hoping to catch a glimpse of miles austin or tony romo, but alas, i did not see them there. and then at the end of the night, my colleague said he saw tony romo in the hotel lobby. curses!  oh well, i guess you can’t have it all. and yesterday was pretty darn near perfect as far as i’m concerned.
