Tonight I hosted a Women for Obama meeting at my home. Not only was it a great way to connect with women in the area who support our President and want to volunteer for his re-election campaign. But we also got to listen on a conference call with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Even though I’ve been volunteering for a few weeks, hearing her voice made it all the more real. So much that I got a little teary eyed. I am fired up and ready to go, and so are these 10 area women!

I am officially a part of the 2012 Obama Campaign!

Ladies and Gents— I am so proud to say that I’m officially a part of the 2012 campaign to help re-elect President Barack Obama. A few months ago, I applied for a Spring Fellow position (the fellowships last 12 weeks, spring/summer/fall). Earlier this week, I had my interview at my local Organizing for America-FL office and now I’m going to my training tomorrow.

Let’s be honest, I’m volunteering, but I am over the moon excited about being involved. This will be the first time I will have lived in a state where my vote matters. I’m originally from Texas (red state) and live in NY for ten years (blue state). So living in a swing state was what really inspired me to apply. Hopefully in a few months, I’ll be celebrating with fellow Florida volunteers and re-creating a picture similar to this one that was taken on Election Night in ‘08:

(Taken after Obama took Virginia and thus, winning the election. I was wearing my “Virginia is for Lovers” tee in hope that this would happen)

What a curious campaign…

I fully endorse this campaign (even if it’s fake).
