Foz loves his Christmas gift (Taken with instagram)
today i finally activated my sirius stratus 6 radio (a christmas gift from my mom) and i LOVE it. i get over 200 channels of awesome (nearly) commercial free music and talk radio.
i have to admit, my co-worker and i take turns carpooling to work together, and he got me hooked. he has a sirius radio in his car and i got addicted to howard stern again (i haven’t regularly listened to his show since he was on terrestrial radio YEARS ago). and besides howard, all the awesome rock stations, sports stations (to listen to ANY game i want!), opie & anthony (other shock jocks that i used to listen to in nyc), and more. i loooove it. thanks mom!
Fozzy liked his presents too! He got some candy cane shaped bones and a rope toy from Santa!
Christmas ‘09 in Florida
I opened the gifts from my family before I went to my friends. I got some AWESOME gifts, including:
-A framed photo of my sister and Santa -a toaster oven -two (!) graphic novels - an ‘office’ one a day calendar -a Sirius radio -a Kenneth Cole top
Yay!!!
I was served these delicious (and easy-to-make) Oreo truffles pretty much everywhere I went while visiting Kendrick’s relatives over Thanksgiving, and asked my mother-in-law to send me the recipe. Put them in a pretty tin, and they make a lovely, personal (and inexpensive) Christmas gift.
OREO TRUFFLES
What you need:
1 package Oreo cookies, finely crushed
1 8 oz package cream cheese (no reduced fat stuff, please…we’re talking truffles here)
2 packages (8 squares each) semi-sweet chocolate, melted (in the microwave is easiest)
What you do:
1. Mix 3 cups of the cookie crumbs with the cream cheese until well-blended.
2. Shape cookie/cream cheese mixture into 42 1” balls.
3. Dip balls in melted chocolate (use two forks and sort of roll them around until evenly coated; allow excess to drip off) and place on wax paper.
4. Sprinkle over remaining cookie crumbs and refrigerate at least one hour before serving. Store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator.
Other decorating ideas: Adorn your truffles with sprinkles, colored sugar, or even edible glitter.
OMG, these look and sound beyond delicious. i will surely add them to my recipe collection and make them this season. and like jordan said, they make a great christmas/holiday gift.
GEEKY GIFT IDEAS
Friends don’t let friends sing off key drunkenly during Karaoke.
But…if your friend must have the mic, why not get him/her Andrew Hamilton Crawford’s Crystal Microphone Necklace. It’s a lux way for that spotlight stealer to feel like a rock star without being embarrassing. At $75.00, this crystal pendant is definitely on my wish list.
i wouldn’t exactly count this as a geeky gift item, but i love the microphone necklace. the karaoke lover in me adores it. i need it in my life.
Magazine Madness!
Amazon is currently selling subscriptions to my favorite magazine Real Simple for $5.00. Yes, that’s right. A year subscription for $5. You can’t beat it! Other magazines currently on sale are listed here.
Act fast, this ends at midnight!
That is a good deal. I’m not sure which to get: Real Simple, Food + Wine, or Travel + Leisure….. At that price I could afford all three, but let’s not go crazy and consider the environment.
omg…so glad i decided to check tumblr before i went to bed. for all of you still up and reading this before midnight EST, $5 magazine subscription sale!!! i just got a subscription to food + wine, real simple, travel + leisure, aaaaand people style watch (guilty pleasure). but hey, for $5 each, i don’t feel guilty at all. i’ll get FOUR new magazines at my door each month for a whole year…all for $20. now if only i could get EW and time magazine for that price and i’d be SET.
aaaaand, just so i wouldn’t feel guilty, i bought one of my little sister’s christmas gifts as well. i won’t say what it is because i don’t want to spoil the surprise. not that she reads blogs. she’s 8. eight year olds don’t read blogs, right?
