GET THE FACTS, YO!
Ok, I know my timeline has been a little heavy on the Obama-related posts. But as I mentioned before, I got accepted into the spring fellowship program, and it’s taking up 15+ hours of my time every week (and worth every second).
Last night, OFA-FL invited supporters from all across Broward County to be the first to see The Road We’ve Traveled, a short documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim and narrated by Tom Hanks. There were so many people that came we had to screen it three times to make sure everyone was able to watch. There was applause. There were tears. People left feeling more inspired than ever. And as one of the OFA staffers said to the crowd, “He works so hard for us, we really should be proud to work hard for him”. If you couldn’t make it to a screening last night, you can watch the video embedded in this post.

Movie Trailer of the Day: I’m really very meh about Friends with Kids.
Yes, it stars Adam Scott, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm, Chris O’Dowd, Ed Burns, and Jennifer Westfeldt. But it’s also pretty much the same movie Hollywood has been making since ZaSu Pitts first put on too much Pan-Cake.
There is a silver lining here: The trailer gives so much of the film away that by the end you’ll either want to spend hard-earned money on the filler in between the stuff you just saw, or you’ll have seen enough to know that as great as these actors are in other things, everyone deserves a day off.
Unlike TDW, I will dish out money to see this so fast my head will spin. Hamm. Scott. Wiig. Rudolph. Burns. Westfeldt. Done and done. I am there.
Obligatory for NYE. Plus it has Zooey and JGL. Love it. Happy New Year’s Eve everyone.
This Is The House From “The Royal Tenenbaums.” The folks at the AV Club took this video tour of the Manhattan mansion where Wes Anderson filmed “The Royal Tenenbaums,” a house the director thought only existed in his imagination until he saw it live in person. So here we have an instance of a real house evoking the fictional ideal of a real place without actually representing the REALITY of that real place. There’s Excedrin in the medicine cabinet if you need it.
LOVE this. TRN is one of my favorite movies of all time.
If you’re a fan of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team (or any other competitive reality show), then have I got the show for you. I co-produced and edited a half hour show on the Miami Dolphins Cheerleader auditions. You can watch this four-part show online exclusive before it airs on TV! Right now you can watch Parts 1 (here) and two (above). Parts three and four will be unveiled in the next two weeks. Watch! Enjoy! Reblog!
Larry Mullen, Jr = SWOON. I’m still on a U2 high from last week’s concert. Even though they didn’t play this tune last week (they only played it three times during the 360 Tour…on their European leg no less), I have always LOOOOOVED this song. And the video is sexy is hell (co-starring Samantha Morton)! What I wouldn’t give to be her in this video.
My friends BOTH got picked for the #NASATweetup happening this week. What are the odds, right? Well, they went shopping for supplies, and as far as I’m concerned, window markers are the only necessity.
Isn’t it funny how you can hear a song and it transports you to another time? I heard this song earlier today and I can remember listening to it in my Queens apartment (summer of ‘02, I believe) after my friend Courtney recommended it to me. I think she was doing promotion for The Fader back then. Either way, this Zero 7 song is so beautiful. It’s been on repeat tonight.
Kickass Cover of the Day: Fusing together 36 separate YouTube covers of Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android,” Ohadi Amram created a synergistic cover that is far beyond the sum of its parts.
Related: Radiohead performs the previously unreleased track “Staircase” live from the basement.
THIS IS REDONKULOUS.
Woman Crying Over Opening Of In-N-Out Burger Completely Justified. Here’s video of the grand opening of the Frisco, Texas, In-N-Out Burger, an event that caused one woman to break down in tears of joy (though wait until she finds out they don’t serve bacon on their burgers). And if you think this is a somewhat perverse overreaction to the opening of a chain restaurant, than you fail to appreciate just how much a good burger really, truly matters to people.
As a native Texan who makes sure to hit up an In N Out when in Cali or Vegas, I can say that I CANNOT WAIT until my next visit to my hometown of Dallas. These sweet, sweet burgers and fries are well worth it…oh, and my family too.
